Membership

Seven Jackson County residents are appointed to the Planning Commission by the Board of Supervisors. Each supervisor appoints at least one member. Two “At-Large” positions are appointed by District 1 and District 5. Each commission member serves a four year term which runs concurrent with the Board’s term. The Planning Commission meets at least once a month and passes their recommendations along to the Board of Supervisors for approval.

Overview

The Planning Commission recommends interim or short term measures to ensure a systematic and comprehensive expansion of Jackson County's social, economic and physical development. The Commission uses a long range blueprint that guides growth and development decisions in the unincorporated areas. The plan focuses on land regulations for the long-term benefit of the public health, convenience, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Jackson County.
