Melani Smith is a native of George County, Mississippi. She completed school at George County High in 2002 and began classes at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She graduated from MGCCC in May of 2006 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice. In June of 2006, Melani began her career as a legal assistant for the Office of the District Attorney. She transferred to the District Attorney Office’s Pre-Trial Diversion program in 2010. She has worked in the Pre-Trial Diversion Program in every capacity, first as an assistant, then as an officer, and in 2014 she was promoted to Director. Melani resides in George County with her husband and three children.
