Jackson County sheriff’s investigators have made four arrests in a rash of burglaries occurring in Vancleave.
Sheriff Mike Ezell says brothers Mike and Mark Bennett, both 58, were arrested Wednesday (January 16) by the George County Sheriff’s Department. They are each charged with two counts of residential burglary and two counts each of commercial burglary. They are accused of committing the crimes on two separate occasions, October 26, 2018 and January 7, 2019, against the same person. The stolen items have been recovered. Bond for each brother is $150,000 on the four charges against them. Two women are also charged with the same crimes, with the same bonds, as the Bennett brothers. They are Larissa Boyce and Janet Goff, both of Vancleave. Goff is also charged with misdemeanor uttering forgery for allegedly cashing the victim’s checks at a Vancleave bank.
The sheriff says 13 additional burglaries in Vancleave since December 1, including auto, commercial, and residential, remain under investigation.
