Board Adopts Redistricting Maps

Redistricting Map - Adopted Aug. 15, 2022 (Board of Supervisors)

On August 15, 2022, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors adopted the Redistricting boundaries of Supervisor, Election Commissioner, Justice Court Judges, and Constable Districts. The boundaries will not take effect until January 1, 2023 (the 2023 related elections). 

Background: As a result of the 2020 Census, redistricting is required in accordance with applicable state and federal law. The redistricting plan shall comply with the U.S. Constitution, the Mississippi Constitution, and applicable state and federal law, including the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The plan shall also contain contiguous districts within +/- 5% deviation from the ideal district population.  The JC Board of Supervisors adopted redistricting criteria on Feb. 22, 2022, held a Work Session on May 16, 2022, and a Public Hearing on June 29, 2022. 

The public hearing gave the public an opportunity to review and comment on the redistricting process. Based on comments made by residents during the public hearing and through an online form, some revisions were made to the Board of Supervisors' proposed map . 

On August 15, 2022, the Board adopted the following Redistricting Maps: 

More information will be provided at a later date.  Again, the maps will not affect any elections prior to 1/1/2023.
